The benefits of live-in care

Many people prefer to remain in their own homes when they become unwell or are less able to care for themselves, and it is our aim to provide this for as many people as we can.

Live-in care allows people to keep their independence and dignity, with a carer on hand to help them with some of the tasks that they may find more difficult.

How to set up your live-in care trial

If you’re interested in a live-in care trial for yourself or a loved one, please contact our friendly care team with details of your requirements. We will then be able to arrange a care consultation to fully understand your needs and preferences and provide you with details of the appropriate options, including clear pricing structure. Complex Care

Our care providers can also offer support with complex care such as dementia, Alzheimer’s, multiple sclerosis (MS) and Parkinson’s disease and hoisting.

Some of our clients are recuperating following surgery, an injury or a long-term illness and others may require palliative care – for us it’s all about making the right client to carer connections.

Live-in Night Carers

We like our carers to have a nights’ sleep in order to carry out their daytime tasks to a high standard. If you need extra support during the night, we can offer live-in night carers as a solution to assist you. This would be in addition to any live-in day care provider that you may already have.

Frequently Asked Questions

What services do Countrywide Cottage Carers provide?

We act as an introductory service connecting you with the right carer for you. Our services range from companionship, day-to day live-in care support and night care.  We are also able to provide bespoke services in line with managing more complex needs for clients with dementia, Alzheimer’s and Parkinsons through to those with disabilities that may require hoisting.

How long will the carer stay?

With our live-in care agreement, the care provider will come to you based on an initial 2-week trial period.  This allows you to get to know the carer and decide if you’d like to extend the service after this period. We will contact both the client and carer to review how the placement is working at the end of the trial period and if the pairing has worked well, you can then extend for a fixed term duration.

What happens if I don’t like my live-in carer?

Your happiness is at the centre of everything we do, so if you’d like a different carer at any time, for any reason, we’re happy to accommodate this for you. We know how important it is to feel comfortable in your own home, and we will do our utmost to ensure we resolve any issues as quickly as possible.

Will my live-in carer do domestic chores?

Your live-in carer will do (or help you with) the cooking, shopping, laundry, ironing and light house work. The amount of support you want is entirely down to you, your carer is there to help with anything you need them to.

I need assistance with getting up several times in the night to use the bathroom – will my live-in carer help with this?

It is important that carers get a good night’s sleep to be able to provide you with the high standard of care required throughout the day. If you need the extra support during the night, we can offer live-in night carers as a solution to assist you. This would be in addition to your live-in day care provider.

Will my live-in carer help with personal care?

Carers will help with personal care tasks from bathing, showering, hair washing, brushing teeth, grooming hair, assistance with dressing and undressing, hoisting and toileting.

Will my carer help with medication?

Your live-in carer will either prompt you to take your medication at certain times of day or can provide assistance so you are able to administer your medication.

Will my carer provide companionship?

Yes, from playing your favourite card or board games to visiting the shops, your live-in carer will be by your side to help and assist you.

Will my carer be able to take me to places in my car?

If your live-in carer can drive and has the correct insurance and documentation, you may, at your own discretion, enter into an agreement with your carer to drive you to activities, to see friends and relatives or just to take you for a drive and a change of scenery.
